MARC DEMONTIGNY

Founder

Marc’s first CNC machine was one he designed and built himself. With a background in sustainable design and over 20 years’ experience as a woodworker, his passion is working with clients to solve complex product development challenges with efficient and environmentally wise solutions. Prior to founding Toolpath Design, his design career spanned diverse fields including renovation and custom interiors, snowboard and longboard design, edible landscape design, custom furniture and large scale installation art. Coming from a long line of carpenters, Marc loves combining the craftsmanship of traditional hand tools with the digital equipment of the future. LEANNE SCHAEFER

CAD Technician

Art and design have always been deep passions for Leanne. Her mediums span from drawing and painting to woodworking, textiles and more. After studying studio arts and art history, in 2015 she received her certificate in architectural drafting and spent nearly 8 years working in industry in design and build applications. Also within this time she completed Camosun College’s Fine Furniture program and was the winner of the coveted best chair award at her capstone exhibition. Leanne loves the tangible quality of making and is hooked on the process of helping people bring their projects to life.

PETER BROWN

Production Manager

Peter studied philosophy and business, and after taking time to study wood and metal sculpture in 2015, he began pursuing his passion for making and repairing things. Over six years he specialized in designing and prototyping products for local custom furniture manufacturing. More recently, Peter has branched out into rendering, app development and 3D printing prototypes for the healthcare sector. His love of problem solving and value engineering drives him to explore how local manufacturing can produce more efficiently so that more things can be made locally. Peter’s expertise with CNC manufacturing and a wide variety of digital design programs makes him a huge asset to the Toolpath team.

KAT ZIMMER

Marketing & Administration

Kat handles marketing and business administration for Toolpath Design. With a background in environment and sustainable design, for over fifteen years she has provided leadership and consulting on marketing and communications in the private, public and non-profit sectors in Victoria. Kat loves being part of the Toolpath team where she gets to connect with many creative businesses in the city and share insight on design challenges.

DANNY VANDERWEL

Workshop Assistant

Coming from a background in Theatre Production and Design after studying in Wales, Danny started his own prop making business once back in Vancouver. Taking on custom commissions and replicas, he honed his skills in molding and casting, as well as teaching himself 3D printing, while making one-of-a-kind pieces he shipped all over the world. Danny sees the beauty in the little things, and enjoys nothing more than seeing something come from nothing, and always pursues this in his creative endeavors.

MINDY MARGUERATT

Production Assistant

Mindy has a diverse and multi-faceted background that has been driven by her curiosity to discover and create. As a child, one of her favourite shows was “How It’s Made”— which helped shape her ongoing momentum of wanting to know how everything functions or is built. Her career has spanned many sectors such as Technical Theatre and Events, Operations, Logistics, and Heavy Duty Mechanics. She has always had a Maker mentality and loves nothing more than working with her hands to help bring a dream to reality.

DAN GRAHAM

Production Assistant

Dan is a fun-loving individual, with a booming laugh heard wherever he goes. After 15 years of climbing the ranks in the restaurant industry, he left to pursue his growing passion for woodworking. He attended the Camosun Fine Furniture program, earning his Level 1 of the Joinery apprenticeship and a Fine Furniture certificate. With a love for working with his hands and technology, Dan is excited to continue growing his craft and abilities at Toolpath Design, where he finds joy in creating something new each day.
