OUR WORKSHOP

With cutting edge software, state of the art machinery and a full woodworking shop, we've got you covered.

OUR CAPABILITIES

Our workshop is located in downtown Victoria’s Arts and Innovation District in the historic Powerhouse.

Our full woodworking service area features a resaw bandsaw, edge bander and 3-ton overhead crane.

Our 3D printer boasts multi colour and multi material capability as well as ultra FDM high quality printing with 7 μm lidar resolution.

Our primary software is Autodesk Fusion360 but we can also use a variety of other CAD packages.

Our two CNC machines are capable of 2D and 3D machining. Maximum cutting size is 100” X 60” x 12” (length can be doubled to 200” by indexing and rotating parts). Each machine easily fits a 4×8’ sheet of plywood. Our ShopSabre Pro 408 CNC features 3- and 4-axis machining, flow-through fixturing, an automatic tool changer and a probe to digitize 2D and 3D parts. Our CNC machinery is capable of technical operations such as:

  • Addition of numbers, logos or assembly information to parts using V-carving, diamond drag etching, laser engraving or pen plotting
  • Through-cuts, pockets, chamfers, roundovers, slotting, textures, flattening, 3D surfaces, mitered edges, holes, countersinks, counterbores and more
  • Jointery for ease of assembly and extra strength, such as dadoes, rabbets or box joints
  • Cutting and assembly of single or multi-part molds, bucks, templates, jigs and assembly fixturing to increase producing speed while ensuring process reliability

THE POWERHOUSE

Located at the end of Store Street in Old Town, the Powerhouse is part of Victoria’s industrial heritage. Constructed in 1892, it was the source of power for newly electrified street lights and the city’s tram system. The 20,000 square foot Romanesque-style brick building was designed by former Victoria mayor John Teague, the architect behind City Hall.

In the past few years, developer Chris LeFevre worked with BC Hydro to restore the Powerhouse. A rugged, heavy concrete and steel structure built to withstand a bomb, the building has undergone significant renovations to become the home of several businesses including Toolpath Design, Metropol Industries and ecologyst.
